Member Groups
CRB and RDA

It is a requirement of RDA Membership that all staff and volunteers have completed CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) /Access NI (Access Northern Ireland) checks or have registered with the PVG Scheme in Scotland.

Currently this applies to

  • All new staff and volunteers upon joining a Group*
  • All Child & Vulnerable Persons Protection Officers (CVPPO)
  • All Group Instructors and Trustees
  • All volunteers that have joined a Group since the introduction of CRB to RDA in April 2006.

RDA National is an umbrella body for CRB and Access NI and can carry out checks for RDA Groups. There is no requirement to use RDA National to complete a check, if the RDA Group is registered with the CRB or has a more convenient local method of completing the check.
In order to be able to complete a check the Group must have a Child & Vulnerable Person Protection Officer in place.

* - there may be some exemptions to this, in the case of short-term volunteers, or those coming to an RDA Group through a third party (e.g. school students). For more information, please contact RDA National Office.

Most Scottish checks are currently done through Horsescotland. Please see the PVG downloads section below.
