London 2012
Do you have what it takes to be a “Games Maker”!!!
London 2012 will see approximately 70,000 people from all round the UK volunteering at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. These volunteers are paramount to the success of the Games and will be known as “Games Makers”.
Applications for becoming a Games Maker open on 27th July 2010 – marking 2 years to the day before the Games Opening Ceremony.
Specialist Volunteers - will have specific existing skills or qualifications that are needed for them to complete the role: for example, doctors, doping control officers, and sports specialists.
Further information regarding the specialist opportunities in equestrian and how to apply can be found on the BEF Website
Generalist Volunteers - will not need specialist skills or qualifications, but should bring passion and enthusiasm to the Games. They might be given roles from drivers and uniform distributors to ticket checking and airport welcome. All generalist volunteers will be given full training. Please note that if your application is accepted you may not be volunteering at the Equestrian venue.
Visit the London 2012 website for further information on how to apply for generalist volunteering roles and volunteers eligibility criteria.
Volunteers Under 18 - Most volunteers will need to be over 18, although there will be 1500 roles available for volunteers under 18. These roles will be launched nearer to the Games so keep looking at their website!
Host London – 2012 Volunteering
If you would like to be part of the Olympic atmosphere, and are a London resident – London will be launching its own Olympic Volunteer Programme – “Host London” on 27th July 2010. Generalist volunteers are required to direct people around the city, painting, preparing information leaflets etc.
At present limited information is known about this scheme and this webpage will be updated as soon as possible.
